Hey, I’m a good person
Many people have the mistaken belief that if they’re a good person then its a given that they will go to heaven. The thing is, it doesn’t work this way. God tells us in his Word that we have all sinned. To spend eternity in heaven, it first takes faith in Jesus, God’s one and only Son, and asking him to forgive you of your sins. Being a good person is a great start but there is more to it.
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:8-9
It takes more than being a good person
Ask Jesus to forgive you
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8
“All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.” Psalm 14:3
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23a
“As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one.” Romans 3:10a
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.” 2 Corinthians 13:5
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Do you believe?
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life. John 3:36a
God’s Grace

God’s love
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ” John 3:16
God’s salvation
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
Jesus loves you!
Jesus is Lord
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
Ready to ask Jesus into your life
If you’ve never owned up to your sin and asked Jesus to forgive you, make these words yours and pray in your heart.
Jesus, I come to you now acknowledging my sin and asking for your forgiveness. I understand that I could never earn my way into heaven by being a good person but it is a gift…the gift of grace that you offer freely through faith in you. I do believe in my heart that Jesus you are the Son of God and that you paid the price for my many sins; that you died and rose again to give me new life. You are my hope and my deliverer. I thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen .
