Grief – Find Comfort in Psalm 23

For most people, nothing in life prepares them on how to handle grief until they’re in the middle of it.  It is then that people often look to God for comfort.  One especially comforting Bible passage is Psalm 23.

Psalm 23

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.  He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”  Psalms 23:1-6

John 14

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.  You believe in God believe also in me.  My Fathers’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.   You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”   John 14:1-6
