What is faith

What is faith?   The best definition of faith comes from the Bible…”being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” Hebrews 11:1.  Isn’t that a beautiful description of what believing in Jesus is all about!  If you’re still wondering about Jesus, visit our Who is Jesus page to learn more about the Son of God.

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”  Romans 10:17

“But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”  John 20:31

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  John 20:29

“For we live by faith, not by sight.”  2 Corinthians 5:7

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”  Hebrews 11:1

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”  1 Peter 1:8-9

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”  Hebrews 11:3

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.”  Romans 5:1-2a

He replied, “Because you have so little faith.  Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from hjere to there,’ and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.”  Matthew 17:20

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.  But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’  Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”  James 2:17-18

“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”  2 Thessalonians 3:3
